A másik oldalon

A 67 éves Jose Marquez a lányát jött meglátogatni. Hiába laknak csak pár kilométerre egymástól, a határ közel 15 éve választja el őket. Ám a szeretetnek semmilyen fal nem szab gátat.

Jackson

Az amerikai Dél társadalmi légkörét és a nőgyógyászati ellátáshoz való hozzáférés összetett kérdéseit feltáró film három nőt mutat be, akik eltérően viszonyulnak az abortuszhoz. April Jackson, a négygyerekes fiatal anya újabb nem tervezett terhességgel szembesül; Barbara Beaver életvédő központot működtet és az abortuszellenes mozgalom vezetője Mississippi államban; Shannon Brewer a Jackson Women’s Health Organization igazgatója, ami az állam egyetlen megmaradt abortuszklinikája.

The Other Side

Every weekend, dozens of people gather on both sides of the United States-Mexico border fence in Friendship Park, the only binational place along the 2,000-mile border where people can meet. Families, friends and lovers on the US side crowd together into a small area of tightly-woven steel mesh, trying to catch a glimpse of their loved ones, and perhaps press their fingertips together, or whisper to each other whilst the border patrol passes by. Among those present is Jose Marquez, a 67-year-old Mariachi singer who has come to see his daughter. Although they live just a few miles apart, they have been separated by the border for almost 15 years, proving that, despite the massive walls and militarized checkpoints, love has no borders.

Jackson

Jackson offers a glimpse of the social atmosphere of the American South, and the complex issue of access to reproductive healthcare. The documentary follows the stories of three women with different stances on abortion: April Jackson, a young mother of four faced with another unplanned pregnancy; Barbara Beaver, leader of the anti-abortion movement in Mississippi who runs the Center for Pregnancy Choices; and Shannon Brewer, the director of Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the only remaining abortion clinic in the state.
